Quartier Vanier

On April 4, 2013, more than 160 people attended the QV Merchants Association (BIA) at the new Wabano Mamawi Centre.

I love my community

Working closely with the Ottawa Police Services and the QV BIA, this business hired Police Services students from La Cité Collégiale. As a result, this proactive and preventive measure has reduced thefts by 22.5%, calls for service by more than 21% and trespassing by 40%.

Community Spirit

This award was given to communtiy leaders and merchants who have shown unlimited goodwill and kindness to both the QV BIA and Vanier residents.

  • Dr. Luc Ducharme, Dr. Oliver Julien & Staff for providing free dental assistance to Vanier residents in need.
  • Father Pascal Nizigiyimana from Assumption Church for his dedication and generosity to our community.
  • Robert Leblanc from Bobby’s Table for donating food and time to the community and helping to raise funds for families who lost their homes to fire.

Community Leader

This long-time resident of Vanier has volunteered many hours planting community flowers and works with our QV patrol program keep our neighbourhood safe. She’s also a regular visitor to our Farmers Market.

Enhancing the Quartier’s Image

This award is given to businesses that invest in the future and are leading by example. Each winner has done extensive building renovations and is enhancing the QV BIA image.

Up and Coming

This award goes to a business that has attracted lots of positive public and media attention. Owner Sita Sanogo has earned a delicious reputation with her very own chicken recipe.

Talk of the Town

Since the doors of Sushime first opened in December 2012 , owner, Sue Jung’s innovative Sushi rolls such as “Mermaid Tail” and “Cinderella Roll” has made Sushime the Talk of the Town.

Working Together

This award goes to Ottawa City Employees who have taken a special interest in the QV BIA.

Charles “Chuck” Zito. Chuck has always worked closely with the Vanier Community. Recently he was offered a new placement, but because he truly loves our community, he decided to continue working in our area.

Mat Genest has been an advisor, a mentor, and an expert resource for the QV staff. He responds quickly to all matters which require guidance from the City.

Ambassador

This new award was given to Rob Zedic, owner of Vanier’s only comic book store for his International success and recognition.

Keeping the QV Safe

Every year an officer of the Police Service Ottawa is recognized for their exemplary work in the Vanier community. This Constable was awarded for her great leadership skills, her compassion for all members of our community and her willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty.

Winner: Constable Lisa Brogan

The QV BIA would also like to thank our special guests:
